  • Course Description: The course seeks to provide an understanding of the true meaning of human
    sexuality, the sanctity and sacramentality of marriage, and the family as a
    domestic       church and seedbed of
    vocations from the Catholic standpoint.



    a)       CHRISTIAN VOCATION as a call to Holiness:  It gives emphasis on the value and inherent
    dignity of man “created in the image and likeness of God” as it finds
    its relevance and fruition in the different states of life: single-blessedness,
    consecrated life of priests and the religious, and the married life.



    b)      Christian
    MARRIAGE as a Sacrament of COMMITMENT:  a
    vocation and a ministry symbolizing the union and love of the Trinitarian God
    through an in-depth analysis of the Goods of Marriage: Sacrament, Conjugal Love
    & Fidelity and Serving Life: Offspring. Practical helps in communication in
    marriage preparations may concretize the students’ understanding on the
    importance and sacredness of marriage.



    c)      The
    Christian FAMILY: The significant role of the Christian family as DOMESTIC
    CHURCH in building the body of Christ by sharing in the prophetic, priestly,
    and kingly missions of the Church.



     



  • This course introduces to students the primary source of the Catholic Faith, which is  Divine Revelation as expressed in Sacred Scriptures and Tradition.  Also, an appreciation of the influence of the Catholic faith in the Philippines will help one understand the characteristics and qualities of today’s Filipino Catholics.  Inseparable from Revelation is the response in FAITH understood in the threefold dimensions of Catholic faith namely: Doctrine, Moral and Worship.  Basic understanding about the Bible, as well as the authority  and manner of interpretation are included to form the students’ love for the word of God.  In particular, the course offers the OLD TESTAMENT as a three part presentation of the saving act of God, experience in and through the Law the  Prophets, and the Writings.
